"I
LOVE NEW YORK" at NANCY HOFFMAN GALLERY
October 17 - December 1, 2001
Nancy Hoffman Gallery at 429 West Broadway in SoHo will host an exhibition
from October 17 to December 1 entitled "I LOVE NEW YORK."
Like other New York galleries participating in the citywide effort, proceeds
from exhibition sales will be donated to New York City recovery charities.
All gallery artists responded to the phone call concerning this exhibition
with enthusiasm for the event and a positive desire to participate and
to contribute. Several of the artists did not have the time to create
a new work, but agreed to give a work they had already created; others
had works in progress that they steered in a different direction to suit
the cause. The collective spirit and energy for healing after the World
Trade towers tragedy will be felt in the presence of the works themselves.
Art that is life enhancing and life affirming is a visual prayer and a
stimulus for recovery. It is to this recovery that the exhibition at Nancy
Hoffman Gallery will speak.
Included in the exhibition will be works by all gallery artists, some
created specifically for the event such as Carolyn Brady's Poppies and
Bagels/New York, including that culinary delectable associated with this
town, the bagel, and weeping poppies embracing the circular edible; as
well as Gregory Halili's image of Manhattan, an intimate scale watercolor,
a love letter to Manhattan.
Gallery artists: Nicolas Africano, Ilan Averbuch, David Bierk, Carolyn
Brady, Howard Buchwald, Mark Calderon, Rupert Deese, Mark Depman, Don
