Harris was born in Amersham, England in 1963. He received his painting degree from the Chelsea School of Art in England. He resides in London. Growing up in England, surrounded by the saturated colors of country landscape, Harris's intimate-scale wall sculptures pay homage in abstraction to the colors and range of light of English nature-scapes in the umbers of fall, the velvet greens of spring and the pure white frosts of winter. He uses beeswax to build an elusive surface into which one gazes. The shapes or frameworks of the pieces function like windows into a personal vista, a haiku in beeswax, metal, fabric and wood. Quirky unto themselves, the materials gain grace in this artist's hands. His most recent sculptures focus on the circle in various materials and permutations. The purity of the form, like the Chinese "pi" disc, symbolizes the universe, challenges the artist; sometimes the circle is thick and covered all over in luxurious beeswax, at others it is punctuated by aluminum or bits of the artist's favorite materials, creating a diptych effect.
